Clean Ocean Action

Clean Ocean Action (COA) focuses its crusade against ocean pollution, seeking protection for the beautiful and bountiful waters off New Jersey and New York.

COA belives in making environmentally sound decisions and draws on robust research to formulate positions and find solutions.  COA evaluates federal and state actions as well as investigates sources of pollution to protect the health of the marine ecosystem.

The nature of COA's work is ever-evolving and changes to meet the needs of our ocean and legislative intitiatives.  Issues include:

  • Contaminated sediments disposal
  • Dredging
  • Wastewater discharges
  • Strip-mining for sand and gravel resources
  • Offshore energy development (i.e., oil & gas drilling and exploration, liquefied natural gas ports, potential for renewable energy sources)
  • Stormwater runoff and nonpoint source pollution
  • Fertilizer Controls
  • Environmental Innovation
  • Coastal Ecosystem Health
  • Marine Debris and Clean Beaches
  • Swimmable and Fishable waters

Clean Ocean Action leads informed campaigns against these sources of pollution and advocates for environmentally sound solutions.
